Look at this cute little face. We are starting to see glimpses of David's smile. So far he has been such a great little baby, but we're only a couple of week in so we shall see.
Here's a picture of it "snowing" in Beaumont. The weather has been SO crazy. I thought it would be hot when David would be here but we are not seeing an end to winter any time soon.
Love these little snuggles.
If he's not with a binky in his mouth, he's probably asleep with his mouth open.
We have been so lucky to have Mike be off from work for 6 weeks. I was so worried about my recovery after having to have another C-section. I didn't know if I would be feeling well enough to do things on my own and be able to care for a new born AND a toddler. Thankfully this recovery went SO much smoother than the first and I felt pretty good after 2 weeks. I was able to sit up without much pain and walk around pretty normal. I was so thankful! Since we had all of these days with Mike home with us, we decided to take a little vacation up North to see my nephew dance in his performance before he left for college. I felt well enough to sit in a car and drive. We decided to break the drive down and took 2 days to get there. It was the best decision!
Here we are with Drew after his performance. It was such a delight watching him own the stage!
And here is Edie. I didn't know she was such a great dancer. Such talented nieces and nephews!
It was so nice being able to see our family. The Monsons were nice enough to let us stay in their trailer. Marcia and Matt were there also.
Here is Lilah singing with the karaoke. I thought it was cute to hear her little voice. I can't wait to hear her sing and learn new songs one day.
While we were up there we were also able to watch my nephew play basketball. That was alot of fun. We drove up to Tahoe for the game and it was absolutely beautiful! We were only able to drive around for a bit after the game. We were going to hang out with the crew and stay for a second game but Lilah was tired and cranky so we decided to head home. We couldn't go home without driving around for a bit though, and i'm so thankful we did.
It was such a beautiful place.
I would definitely like to come back and explore more some day.
We waited in the car for Lilah to take a little nap and then got her up and walked around.
It was good for her to run around before heading back to the Monsons
Lilah loves the outdoors as much as her mama and daddy.
The next day Mike and Lilah went to church and when they got home we got ready to hit the road. As we were getting ready to start our journey we decided to squeeze in one last detour to San Francisco. We should really make an entire vacation up to North California. It is so beautiful and I feel like we have yet to explore so much.
We were able to go to the iconic bridge on our way to SF. It's hard to travel with little ones so it's nice to have places to stop and stretch our legs. I've learned that it definitely makes you take a slower pace and be very flexible. Mike and I have definitely learned that these last two years. We follow Lilah's lead. If she seems to be done, we are all done. I tell Mike it's better for all of us to leave early and happy, then to stay and see more but leave cranky.
I can't believe I was feeling well enough to even feel good carrying the 2 babies. This recovery has been such a dream.
After the bridge we headed down to Fisherman's Wharf for some fish and chips. I think we have done that every time we come. I told Mike that next time we have to drive downtown and explore more of this beautiful city.
Here's Lilah being a butt and not wanting to stand next to mommy. It has already begun.
It was a lot more windy and cold than I had anticipated. I tried my best to keep the little guy nice and covered.
Lilah and her terrible twos in all its glory. Haha!
I kept telling her to smile and she would make silly faces. Oh, Lilah!
As we were leaving we went down that super steep street (I would hate to live there) and drove through downtown towards our hotel. Next time we are up here I would love to explore downtown some more and maybe even hit up China Town.
The next day we headed home via HWY 1. It is the most beautiful highway you can ever drive on.
The views are beautiful around every corner. I sure love living in California!
I mean just look at this. There is still so much to discover in California. I think now that we have 2 kids, we will travel less and explore more of this beautiful state.
They had this closed off. But it was a little secluded beach with its own waterfall. One of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen. Just look at that water color!
I told Mike to hop off and take some pictures because the babies were asleep and I didn't want to wake them for a family picture. This is were Mike forgot his earphones, woopsies!
We were driving around and found this hill full of flowers. Mike said, "should I stop?" and before I could answer he said, "I'll just stop because you're going to regret it later if I don't" haha! So true.
We ended up with some cute pictures though!
Lilah was completely done with being in the car so we stopped at this state park to walk around for a bit. Again, so beautiful.
Tired little girl.
I could have just grabbed a chair and sat here for the rest of the day.
We drove for about 2 more hours and then made another stop to a Butterfly sanctuary. Since it was closed down we figured we'd just stretch our legs and walk around for a bit.
I did not expect our walk to be this beautiful.
We walked along a sandy path, with flowers, that led to the beach.
It was so pretty. I had never been to a place like this were there are flowers growing in the sand.
It was so windy here. Can you see how the trees are growing sideways?
We finally made it home. I was so happy that we decided to brave it and take a trip even though David was not even a month old yet. I feel like we have to enjoy some more trips before he no longer enjoys car rides just like sister.
Look at this cute smiling boy of mine!
Holding his own bottle like a pro.
