Nursery Update

I don't know why I always think it's a good idea to take on such big projects. It would've been so much easier to be like any other normal person and just paint the room and call it good, but noooo. Mama Joanna wanted wainscoting installed in the nursery :)

Michael was so sweet to take on this project with me. Well mostly him, but I helped a little. I wanted to paint the room a super soft blush pink, almost white. When I finished painting the first wall I was a little scared of how dark the pink was. It definitely took me a while to get used to it, but now I love it! It makes the white trims in the rooms pop!

Here's some before pictures. White walls, ugly baseboards, no trims.

After a fresh coat of pain.

Done with the second coat

Putting in the fresh new baseboards. I cut and painted all the baseboards myself (which is probably why this step took so long, hehe) Once I was finished cutting everything Mike bought a compressor and nailed them all in.

Next it was time to install the panels. Mike got these white ones which made it easier to prime and paint.

After the panels Mike nailed in the chair boards. One of the hardest parts and what seemed to take us forever was putting in the squares. After some failed attempts, they are finally nailed in...yay!!

I love the progress we have made even though it has taken us way longer than expected. We need to really crank down before this little girl gets here. I know she won't be sleeping in the nursery for a while but I doubt anything would be done if we didn't have it finished by when she arrives. So excited to see it slowly come together!

27

I was looking through my phone deleting pictures and I realized I never blogged about my 27th birthday. Good thing the internet stored some of my old phone pictures because I accidentally deleted them all thinking they had been blogged.

For my birthday this year we went and camped by Malibu beach.

We decided to take the dogs with us, and although it is always so much more work, I always love to see them have a blast splashing in the ocean.

My little loyal buddy!

The dogs have become great little travelers.

Gus loves to get dirty as soon as he hits the beach

Oh happy dog! He has become so much more obedient. Some time he still gets away from us but although it takes time, he comes back and doesn't run away when approached.

I was playing around with the dogs trying to beat the waves and I almost ate sand!

Poor Butter couldn't get up the rocks and Gus was trying to yank on his ears to get him up. It was so cute!

Come on Butter you can do it!

At night we found a dog friendly campsite which was right off the beach. It was perfect!

Michael putting his boy scout fire burning skills to the test.

My cute boys!

One of the best things about marrying an early bird is that you often wake up to breakfast already made

Man there's something about camp food that just makes it that much more delicious!

The next day we went out and did some dog friendly hikes and even found a cool dog park for the dogs to play in. I hope they know how lucky they are to get out of our back yard

Then we found some cool trails

Gus was told not to get in the water but I guess he was feeling a little hot and dove into the disgusting water. It was so funny because Mike could not get him out!

Time to chill after our hike

We then went to a park and grilled some hot dogs because it was Papa's birthday.

Grilling hot dogs in honor of Papa.

Soo yummy!

My little beggar

It was a great weekend with my boys! Here's to 27!
