This Thursday Mike got home super early from work. I didn't even notice how early he had woken up, but he called me at 12 and said he was on his way home (usually he calls me around 6pm) I knew he'd be hungry so I had food ready for him. He came home, ate, and took a little cat nap. It's rare that Mike gets home early enough to go anywhere, so we knew we wanted to take advantage of the extra hours we had together. I wanted to take the dogs out so they could run around without leashes. Mike suggested we should take our bikes up to Big Bear, so we loaded up and headed towards the mountain.
It's always quite the challenge getting the dogs to walk nicely alongside the bikes, but once they get it, it's great.
When we first got there Mike pointed out the area where we used to fish. I couldn't believe it! We used to fish off that bridge in the far back and now it was covered in bushes and plants! It's so sad. Made me wonder what's going to be left for our kids to play in :(
After we biked down the path a little ways, we stopped and walked down to the water so the dogs could run around. It didn't even dawn on me that Butter and Gus would jump in the water!
These guys were determined to get those ducks!
Darn it, they got away
Since we were totally not expecting them to jump in, we didn't come prepared and their leashes got all wet and muddy after they got out. Good thing I had a spare towel in the truck. Those dogs smelled fishy, yuck! But they were having so much fun
Gus was having the time of his life, he loves being out free. Gus just wants to play, play, play all the time
It's fun to see them have such a great time without having to be tied by a leash
Big Bear is so beautiful, it's sad to see how low the lake has gotten. Where we were playing around used to be all water
Butter is such a good dog, he'll go far and play then he'll come back and give you a big cheesy grin like "I came back!" hehe
I love when Butter and Gus play together, definitely makes up for all the hard work of having 2 dogs
Gus on the other hand, is not so great at coming back. He's like a little kid. You have to threaten him with "I'm leaving" and then he'll come back...mostly
Goodness gracious I sure love this pup of mine!
He's such a good boy, we're so glad he's in our family
Gus got a little too far away, so Butter went out to get him. Gus usually follows Butter
They were having a blast
2 peas in a pod
Oh and after jumping in the water for the second time, Butter got the grand idea to roll around in the dirt, oh brother!
I remember visiting this place all the time when Mike and I were dating. One time while we were dating he took me into a biking store and had me pick out which bike I liked. To my surprise he grabbed it and headed out to the cashier. I was confused at what he was doing and he said, "you need a bike so we can go biking up the mountain" We have always loved the outdoors
We would come up to Big Bear and bike, bbq, hike, and fish. It is such a beautiful place. And it's so lively in the afternoon with people out walking along the lake.
The sun was going down quickly and I was excited to see the sunset. Sunsets are my favorite thing in the whole world.
I told Butter to jump on the tree , wasn't quite the sight I wanted to see, but okay
Even the clouds are beautiful in Big Bear
Those people who live on that hill have a million dollar view every single day, so lucky
And the moment I was waiting for, Big Bear sunsets NEVER disappoint!
This picture makes me SOOO happy. My three favorite things all in one shot. A beautiful sunset, two handsome pups, and my favorite person in the whole wide world! My heart could burst right about now
It looks like a very fun and enjoyable evening. Those sunset pictures are awesome, great job!
