Lilah's Unicorn Birthday Party

Lilah turned one! It has been the most fabulous year of my life.

I was able to spend the entire month with Lilah since I had vacation from work to enjoy her these last days of being a baby.

I have grown to love this girl of mine so much!

She is such a gem to be around!

This past month I made sure to savor every moment with her.

It was so fun to be home just the two of us. I know that this will not be forever and my other kids will probably not be as blessed and she is for being our first.

For Lilah's birthday I had wanted something along the lines of rainbows since she was my rainbow baby. I had started to see more and more unicorn birthday parties and thought they were so cute so I decided on that theme.

Since I got to be home I was able to make all of the decorations. I made unicorn goodie bags with muddy buddy mix. I also made some rice krispy treat balls that my mom helped me decorate.

This cake. This glorious cake. I think I had talked to everyone at work about Lilah's first birthday party. I knew I wanted something small and more intimate so that I could just focus on my girl. I had been looking around at bakeries and trying to see who could make me a unicorn cake. After alot of online searching I finally decided to do it myself.

I was SO nervous about making it myself but I was so proud of myself once it was all done.

It ended up coming out so cute and yummy! Yay for youtube tutorials and etsy. Maybe I will be willing to make Lilah's second birthday cake.

My mom helped me make some cupcakes. I made the cake two tiers but I was a little worried in case we ran out. It turned out to be just right.

And here is the tinniest pinata I've ever seen. The internet can be so sneaky sometimes, hehe! I had originally thought she could get a serving spoon and hit it but then forgot all about it. Oh, well!

Her one year old balloons that she woke up to thanks to daddy. Michael stayed home that day to help with all the last minute stuff.

Her tutu chair made out of ribbons. I decided this was the color scheme I wanted to go with.

The balloon garland which is still up on my wall weeks later. So cute!

And the tables. I moved all of the furniture out of our family room to have the party there. The weather was perfect and beautiful outside for being December but there was still a little bit of a breeze.

Loved how cute everything turned out.

Her month pictures. Starting from month 1 on the left all the way to 12 months.

It was so fun to see how much she has changed over the past months.

The table set up.

I wanted her birthday party to be simple and easy. My main goal was not to stress out about anything. I went with some simple flowers for the center pieces so that I wouldn't have to make any extra decorations.

While the birthday girl napped (Diva) we started eating. I made some pork, potatoe salad, asian salad, Marcia made her delicious home made rolls, and some veggies. Simple!

The diva finally woke up and had something to eat.

I thought her little Unicorn horn was SO cute! Lilah wanted it off and I only got to snap a couple of pictures before she removed it. But, isn't she the cutest!

She also had a little unicorn onesie that said 'ONE'

And I made her a little tutu to complete the outfit.

Here she is showing us that she is ONE!

Thankfully Lilah's birthday landed on a Saturday so family was able to come. I was SO surprised at how many came out to celebrate with us, it was awesome!

I'm not sure what it is about being one, but man this girl is so cute! She looks even cuter as a little one year old.

Cutest cousins!

Lilah was SO serious at her party. I was kind of worried that she would not be feeling well again today since she had, had fevers the last couple of days. Thankfully she was feeling well on her birthday.

I loved her onesie, so cute!

Clapping along with everyone but still no smile, hehe!

I can't with this girl's cuteness. I just want to kiss her all day long.

My little one year old.

Birthdays are serious business!

The only little smile we got after taking 50 pictures

And then it was time to eat cake! We sang Lilah happy birthday and then gave her, her birthday cake.

Here she is with the big cake.

Here is a little cake I made her just for her cake smash. She was not very interesting in this whole cake thing but we all sat and watched her with delight as she poked her fingers around.

I had no idea what she would do with the cake. I didn't think she would dig in because girlfriend does not like being messy.

Daddy showing Lilah how it's done.

Then she finally took the tinniest handful. She was so serious, it was funny!

All of her cousins got a turn helping Lilah get into her cake. They all took turns getting their fingers full of frosting. I think they all enjoyed it.

Next it was time for presents. It had been so hard to hold back and not have her open her presents sooner, hehe. Lilah loves bath time and I had finally bought her some toys to play in the tub with.

Lilah got so many toys! I had not expected any gifts at all so it was awesome to see all the new toys she will be playing with.

I think in the picture below I was taking to long opening a toy up for her.

Playing with ALL of her new toys.

I wasn't sure how I would feel having Lilah turn one. I had heard that some people cry at the thought of their Little turning a year old. I think having the entire month off to be home with just my girl made me savor every moment with her prior to the big birthday. We took naps together, ate together, played together, it was amazing! Lilah is such a momma's girl (Which I never thought she'd be) and I love it!  I have enjoyed so much being a stay at home mommy (and working 8 days a month) Only having one baby at home is so much fun and a time I will cherish forever with my first born. I have watched Lilah learn things every day. Seen the first time she did everything (except climb on top of the train table, she did that while I was at work one day) It has been such a wonderful year taking Lilah on adventures and different states. She has made everything so much more fun and also tiring and longer but mostly fun!

I'm so happy with the way the whole party turned out and how our family was able to come and celebrate such a fun day.

Thank you for making me a mommy Lilah! I love you!
