Chicago

I never even imagined at the beginning of this year that we would be able to visit Chicago. It has always been on my travel list and it was so cool that we were finally able to visit. It has been so fun traveling with our little Lilah and taking advantage of how easy it is to get around with her being our one and only baby. I know that it will only get harder from here on out and that we will probably not be able to travel as much once we have more kids so, we are taking full advantage.

Our sweet little Lilah being the cutest passenger.

Tired baby

We got to Chicago late but wanted to visit our friends up in Rockton. They moved a couple of months ago from Highland and we have missed them so much. It was so great being able to see them and their kids again.

The Merrells were so nice and let us stay and visit with them for the night. The next day we set out for Chicago. While we were in New York, we took a bus tour and we loved being able to enjoy the city without all of the walking. We decided to do another bus tour in Chicago.

One of our stops was the Willis Tour.

The Willis Tower has these sky boxes on the 103rd floor.

Looking out made all of the sky skrapers around look like miniature buildings.

It was SO scary getting out there!

I definitely could not look down.

Our little Lilah didn't have a care in the word.

Lilah was sitting down there like nothing while every one oo'd and aa'd over how beautiful she was.

After the Willis Tower, we got on the bus again and got off to talk the Magnificent Mile which would get us to The Bean.

The parks were so well kept and it was such a great stroll.

Buckingham Fountain.

We made it to the Bean! There were SO many people

So amazing to finally be able to see this in person!

It had so many finger prints on it that we look kinda blurry

The guy on the right of the picture was so excited about Lilah. He couldn't get over her.

He asked if he could hold her.

Mike looked at me and I was like, sure! I figured if we made a run for it I could probably chase him down. Man, people are always wanting to hold this kid!
I love how hesitant Mike looks, haha

He finally got to hold her. When he walked away from us, he joined his little family. He had a wife, a daughter, and a grand baby. I figured he was just really into babies.

My sweet Lilah always giving mommy some love.

Always touching mommy's face

Chicago was so beautiful. Such a clean city. It was like all of the good things from New York.

I loved all of the beautiful flowers everywhere.

The face fountain.

So many museums.

We also had out first Chicago style pizza. It was delicious!

Lilah wanted in on the pizza too.

After walking around the park, we hopped on the bus again and kept on going with our tour.

Lilah was having a snack.

I never realized how much water surrounded Chicago.

Our last stop was Navy Pier.

The view from the ferris wheel.

I thought Lilah would enjoy a little Merry Go Round.

She had just woken up from a nap though

So, she wasn't the biggest fan.

I guess we shouldn't have picked the scariest bunny out of them all.

Inside the ferris wheel.

That night we made it back to the hotel and enjoyed the rest of the night watching movies. Here's Lilah enjoying a sink bath.

Then next day we decided to take it easy and enjoy some food and museums.

Can you tell Lilah had a good night?

My friend from work had recommended the museum of science and industry so we went to that one.

Lilah playing with the lights.

Waiting for daddy to go get the car.

We spent pretty much the entire day there and walked around until they closed.

After the museum we went over to the boats and hopped on the a boat tour.

I decided to do this last so that it wouldn't be so hot and boy did it pay off.

We got there just in time for the last boat tour.

Taking lots of pictures while we waited.

Lilah, how are you so beautiful!!!?

As the sun was starting to go down, you could see the sun starting to reflect off of the buildings.

I loved all of the beautiful architecture.

My sweet, happy girl!

I love you Lilah. I want to enjoy every second of being your favorite person right now.

My girl!

That sweet little face that I love to kiss all day long!

When the sun started to go down, that's where the magic happened.

The sunset was being reflected off the sky scrapers and I could hardly believe my eyes! Even the tour guide had to stop and just admire how beautiful the view was.

It was absolutely gorgeous!

I couldn't get enough of it!

I love how much of Chicago rests on the water. It's crazy to think that years ago they lost so much do to the great fire but maybe that gave opportunity to the building of all of these magnificent structures.

As it got darker, it was a whole different kind of beauty

Loved all of the city lights.

Every block had shops down the the river with certain themes. It was really such a beautiful, serene place and everyone seemed to be out just enjoying themselves. If you can see on the first level there was the main road. On the second level there were was another road and that's where the river walk was.

I loved the night life downtown. You can even see the taxi boats pulling up to the restaurants by the lake and people parking their boats to shop or to get some drinks.

I had never seen anything like this.

The navy pier. That was the Ferris wheel we had been on.

Lilah was so tired!

After the tour we decided to hop off and go enjoy the beautiful river walk. There were shops, restaurants, and the city lights were reflecting off of the river, it was amazing!

We had to try a Chicago style hot dog, it was delicious!

After walking around some more we ended up at Ghirardeli for an ice cream sundae.

Lilah enjoyed her first ice cream.

Well it was not hard to see why Chicago is so many people's favorite city. I could not believe the beauty of this city. It was clean. The architecture was beautiful. They had different levels for traffic so you were stuck in traffic all day. The people were so chill. We had such an amazing time in this beautiful city!
